The Challenge

What we were up against.

Selling through distributors creates a problem a normal storefront does not solve. The distributor is a buyer, so they need trade pricing and bulk ordering. But they are also a seller, so they need something to sell with, and most of them do not have their own ecommerce. Left alone, that gap gets filled by PDFs, spreadsheets and phone calls, and the brand loses any view of what happens past the distributor.

Our Approach

How we attacked it.

We treated the distributor as two users in one account. As a buyer they get contracted pricing, sample ordering and repeat ordering. As a seller they get a white-label mini-site they can point their own customers at, running off the same catalogue so nothing has to be re-keyed or kept in sync by hand. Commerceflo carries the account-based pricing and quote logic natively, which keeps trade rules in the platform instead of in custom code. We then applied the same pattern to Buddyburst and Seedsticks in the same group.

What We Built

The solution we shipped.

Trade partners log in and see their own pricing tier rather than a public price. They can order samples before committing to volume, which matters in a category where buyers want to handle the product first. Distributors who want to sell onward get a white-label storefront for their end customers, drawing on the same catalogue. Alongside the build we designed the UI/UX and started AI SEO so the brand is findable in AI answers as well as in search.

Sibling Builds

Sow Easy now has a distributor channel that can transact and resell without the brand hand-holding every order, and the same pattern is running for Buddyburst and Seedsticks. The public site is still in development, so we are not publishing traffic or revenue figures for it. We would rather describe the build accurately than attach a number to it before there is one worth quoting.

Frequently asked

Questions about the Sow Easy project.

What is a white-label distributor mini-site?

It is a small storefront your distributor runs under their own branding, selling your catalogue to their customers. They do not have to build or maintain ecommerce themselves, and you are not stuck rebuilding a separate site for every partner.

Why does sample ordering need to be built in?

In trade categories buyers usually want to handle the product before ordering volume. If sampling happens over email it sits outside the system, so nobody can see which samples led to which orders. Building it into the portal keeps that history attached to the account.

What does "trade pricing tiers on login" actually mean?

Different partners have agreed different rates with you. Rather than showing one public price and correcting it later in a quote, the storefront resolves the right price for that account the moment they log in. What they see is what they pay.

Can this work for a group with several brands?

Yes, and Sow Easy is the example. The same distributor and white-label pattern runs across Buddyburst and Seedsticks in the same group, so partners get a consistent way to buy and resell across all three.

Do distributors need technical skill to run a mini-site?

No. That is the point of white-labelling it. The catalogue, pricing and ordering all come from the parent system, so the distributor is running a storefront rather than building one.
