"Ten Australian agencies that help businesses show up in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, checked on their own websites on 21 October 2026: where each is based, which AI engines it covers, what it publishes about price and who it suits. Eight more get a short entry. FactoryJet is listed last and says so."

Key Takeaways

  • 1There is no single best AI SEO agency in Australia. Match the firm to your size, your state and how you want results reported.
  • 2Every firm here was named by AI tools when we asked which Australian agencies help businesses show up in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. Every fact was then read on the firm’s own site on 21 October 2026.
  • 3Six of the 18 firms we checked publish prices: from A$500 a month for SEO packages that include AI search, to A$5,000 a month for an engineering-led retainer.
  • 4Google says there are no extra requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. Good AI SEO is sound SEO plus measurement in each AI tool.
  • 5FactoryJet is on this list, last. We work remotely with Australian clients.

The short answer

The best AI SEO agency in Australia depends on your size and where you are. For large brands, look at StudioHawk, Prosperity Media, NP Digital Australia and Luminary. For engineering-heavy work with published prices, DEJAN in Brisbane and ClickedOn in North Sydney. For small businesses, WebGlobals and Click Click Media in Sydney, Search Scope in Perth and BOHN Digital in Adelaide.

We started from the firms AI tools themselves name for this question, then read each firm’s own website on 21 October 2026. Nobody paid to be listed. The order is not a ranking. FactoryJet is last, and labelled.

More owners now ask an AI tool who to hire before they search Google. AI SEO is the work of being in that answer.

On 9 October 2026 we asked eight AI tools one question an Australian buyer would ask: “Which Australian agencies help businesses show up in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?” We ran it through ChatGPT (the API and the app), Claude, Gemini (the API and the app), Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, 14 answers in all. They named more than 30 different firms. Most firms appeared once or twice. Eighteen appeared in three answers or more.

So we opened the website of each of those 18 firms on 21 October 2026, plus Search Scope in Perth. Several of the 18 serve Perth clients, but none showed a Western Australian office address on the pages we read. We kept a firm if its own site shows an Australian address and an AI search service. Then we wrote down only what each firm says about itself: where it is, which AI tools it works on, what the work includes and any prices it publishes. Ten get a full profile below. Eight more passed the same checks and get a short entry.

A note on honesty. FactoryJet sells AI SEO in Australia, so we are on this list. We put ourselves last. Several lists that rank for this topic are written by an agency that puts itself first. That is common practice, and a reason to read every list, this one included, with care. For how we do the work ourselves, see our AI SEO agency service in Australia.

Four terms in plain English. AI SEO is making your business easy for AI tools to find, trust and name in their answers. GEO (generative engine optimisation) is the same work aimed at chat tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. AEO (answer engine optimisation) aims at direct answers, such as Google’s AI Overviews and featured snippets. LLM SEO is another name for GEO. Most firms below sell all four as one service.

How we chose these firms

  1. Start with what buyers see. We took every firm the AI tools named in 14 answers to one Australian buyer question, asked on 9 October 2026.
  2. Keep the ones named often. Eighteen firms appeared in three or more answers. We added Search Scope, a Perth firm named in two answers, so Western Australia has a local option.
  3. Check for an Australian base and a real service. Each firm here shows an Australian address on its own site and sells AI search work. One firm, One Way Up in Sydney, had no separate AI search page linked from its homepage, so it is not listed.
  4. Read the source, not the summary. Every description comes from the firm’s own service page, opened on 21 October 2026, and we link that page on every profile.
  5. No scores. We have not hired these firms, so we give no stars and no ranking. We say who each one suits and one question worth asking it.
  6. Prices only from the firm. Where a firm publishes prices we copy them exactly and link the page. We never guess another firm’s price.

The best AI SEO agencies in Australia, profiled

The order is not a ranking. Large agencies come first, then technical specialists, then firms built for small businesses, then us.

1. StudioHawk

Based: Prahran, Melbourne and South Eveleigh, Sydney; its about page also lists London and Atlanta. Type: Large specialist SEO and AI search agency.

Its AI SEO page covers prompt and intent research, entity and topic clusters, technical work such as schema and Bing indexing, authority building, and visibility tracking across AI Overviews and chat engines. Harry Sanders founded it in 2015. It says it has 120+ SEO and AI search specialists, and it publishes an AI search whitepaper plus ecommerce and local visibility toolkits. A free AI SEO audit is the first step.

  • Best for: Established brands that want a large SEO-first team with published research behind the work.
  • AI tools named: Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini
  • Worth asking them: Who on the team works on your account each month, and how AI visibility is reported next to rankings.

2. NP Digital Australia

Based: Level 35, 477 Collins Street, Melbourne. Type: Australian office of the NP Digital agency network.

Sells AEO and GEO as a named service. The work starts with an audit of how your brand shows up across AI platforms, then content restructuring and schema, then off-page authority through digital PR, guest posting and media mentions. AI visibility tracking tools monitor where the brand is mentioned, and the reports show where competitors are gaining.

  • Best for: Larger marketing teams that want AI search run alongside paid media, content and digital PR by one network.
  • AI tools named: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity
  • Worth asking them: Which tracking tool they use, and whether the AEO and GEO work is staffed from the Melbourne office.

3. Luminary

Based: Offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Type: Digital agency for large websites, in business since 1999 and a Certified B Corp.

Offers GEO audits and strategy, implementation and team training. Its GEO page covers rendering checks so AI tools can read your pages, an llms.txt file as a fallback, content structure, entity definition and content hubs. For ongoing measurement it works with paid AI visibility platforms it names: Profound, Scrunch, AthenaHQ and Searchable.

  • Best for: Organisations on enterprise content platforms such as Kentico, Optimizely, Sitecore or Umbraco that want the website and the GEO work in one place.
  • AI tools named: Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek
  • Worth asking them: Which AI visibility platform subscription you would need, and what it costs on top of the agency fee.

4. Prosperity Media

Based: Surry Hills, Sydney and South Yarra, Melbourne. Type: SEO, GEO and digital PR agency.

Sells generative AI SEO as a four-step program, including a 56-point technical audit, schema work, and LLM visibility and sentiment reporting that tracks mentions, citations and referral traffic from AI tools. It also publishes original Australian research: a study of 122,787 AI citations from 467 prompts about 12 brands it manages. We summarise it further down.

  • Best for: Enterprise and B2B brands that want digital PR and citation research behind the GEO work.
  • AI tools named: Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude
  • Worth asking them: Which of your prompts get tracked, and how sentiment is scored in the report.

5. DEJAN

Based: Creek Street, Brisbane; it says team members also work from Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Type: Technical AI SEO and GEO specialist, running search campaigns since 2008.

Lists five workstreams: GEO, Google AI Overviews and AEO, machine-readable technical SEO (AI crawler access, JSON-LD and llms.txt), a passage-testing method it calls Selection Rate Optimization, and checks for AI answers that get your brand wrong. It publishes a named enterprise case study: across 6,776 tracked AI answers for sportswear maker OWAYO, brand mention share rose from 1.5% to 8.0% over four months.

  • Best for: Mid-market and enterprise firms that want engineering-heavy work and measured experiments.
  • AI tools named: Google AI Overviews, Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot
  • Worth asking them: What the 30-day audit tests, and which tracked answers the monthly report will show.

6. ClickedOn

Based: Level 17, 99 Mount Street, North Sydney. Type: GEO and performance marketing agency with its own tracking platform.

Runs GEO and SEO as one program in six workstreams, including AI search optimisation, schema and llms.txt, entity signals and citation building. Its developers built the platform that asks AI engines your buyer questions and records every answer and citation. Founder Chris Minehan started the agency in 2014. It publishes a law firm case study with the dated AI answers it recorded before and after the work.

  • Best for: Businesses that want to see the tracked answers themselves, day to day.
  • AI tools named: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews
  • Worth asking them: Which of the 50+ audit questions match how your buyers ask, and who chooses them.

7. Click Click Media

Based: Norwest Business Park, Norwest NSW, in Sydney’s Hills district. Type: Full-service digital agency running SEO since 2008.

Sells GEO, AEO and AI Overviews work as a layer on top of organic SEO, with a free AI visibility audit on the first call and month-to-month terms. Its AI SEO page ties AI citations to named SEO clients, among them a Sydney home improvement business and a childcare provider.

  • Best for: Sydney service businesses, such as trades, clinics and professional firms, that already need SEO.
  • AI tools named: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini
  • Worth asking them: What its line “paid only if it moves the citation metric” means in the written contract.

8. WebGlobals

Based: George Street, Parramatta NSW. Type: Small business web, SEO and AI SEO agency.

Pairs AEO for Google AI Overviews and featured snippets with GEO for the chat assistants: schema, llms.txt, AI crawler access in robots.txt, answer-first rewrites, entity work and AI visibility reporting on a fixed set of tracked prompts. Each published plan states how many prompts are tracked and how many pages are rewritten a month.

  • Best for: Small businesses that want a published plan and a low monthly starting point.
  • AI tools named: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews
  • Worth asking them: How the tracked prompts are chosen for your business, and who writes the rewrites.

9. Search Scope

Based: Victoria Park, Perth WA. Type: Founder-led SEO consultancy (founder Dorian Menard).

Runs a live AI visibility check on a 30-minute call, then works through business-fact cleanup, Google Business Profile depth, local schema and authority links. It publishes its own tracking data: between 22 May and 10 September 2026 it logged 765 AI answers that cited sources, and ChatGPT answers cited 3.4 websites on average against 5.9 for Google AI Overviews and 6.3 for Google AI Mode.

  • Best for: Local service businesses, especially in WA, that want a diagnosis before any retainer.
  • AI tools named: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Claude
  • Worth asking them: Which buyer questions are tracked and how often; weekly tracking is a priced add-on.

10. BOHN Digital

Based: Adelaide, South Australia. Type: Founder-led SEO, AI search and web development studio.

Works in four layers: entity definition (including Wikidata alignment), validated schema, answer-first content, and a fixed prompt set run monthly against each engine, logged and screenshotted. Because it builds websites too, it says the fixes land in your code instead of a PDF of recommendations. It starts every engagement with a free AI visibility audit and offers no lock-in contracts.

  • Best for: South Australian businesses that want the site build and the AI search work from one small team.
  • AI tools named: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Google AI Overviews
  • Worth asking them: Which pages it would rebuild first, and what the monthly report shows.

11. FactoryJet (that is us)

Based: We work remotely with Australian clients and schedule calls in Australian business hours. Type: AI SEO done by the engineers who build the site, store or AI agent.

We measure first: the questions your buyers ask, run through each engine, with the websites every answer cites, plus a check that AI crawlers can read your site. Then we change the site itself, because we build websites and online stores, and we re-test every month. We have served 500+ businesses since 2014 and quote in writing after a free first call.

  • Best for: Ecommerce and service businesses that want the AI search work and the website changes done by the same team.
  • AI tools named: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews
  • Worth asking them: Which questions we would track for you, and what we would change on your site first.

Eight more firms that passed the same checks

Each of these was named in three or more of the 14 AI answers and shows an Australian address and an AI search service on its own site.

  • Impressive Digital. Cremorne, Melbourne. An AI SEO service built on an AI audit, structured content, authority work and citation tracking, with fees it says are tied to agreed performance targets. Source

  • Rankmax. South Yarra, Melbourne, with a remote-first team. Founded in 2023, it says it focused its SEO agency on AI search from mid-2025. Source
  • Intelligent Resourcing. Seaford, Victoria. Separate GEO and answer engine optimisation pages next to revenue operations work. Source
  • Myoho Marketing. 333 Exhibition Street, Melbourne. Separate GEO and AEO service pages, plus white-label digital marketing for other agencies. Source
  • Boltly. Melbourne based. Publishes SEO packages from A$500 to A$1,500 a month and says AI search work is included in each one. Source
  • Bring. Windsor, Melbourne. AI search optimisation sits inside its SEO services, and it publishes articles on earning AI citations. Source
  • Red Herring Digital. Yarraville, Melbourne. Its homepage describes AI SEO for Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT. Its AI search service page refused our automated fetch on 21 October, so we could not read the detail. Source

What these AI SEO agencies publish about price

Most AI SEO agencies quote after a call. Six of the 18 firms we checked publish figures on their own sites. We copied them exactly on 21 October 2026. These are each firm’s own prices, not FactoryJet prices.

  • Read the unit. One firm prices by tracked prompts, one by specialist hours, one by program size. Ask each to restate its quote as hours and deliverables a month.
  • Check GST. Four of the six say their figures exclude GST. Two do not say either way.
  • Check the exit. Four of the six say month to month or no lock-in on the pages we read. Ask for the notice period in writing.

What Australian data says about where AI answers come from

Two firms on this list publish their own Australian measurements. Both are worth reading before you brief anyone, because they show which pages AI answers draw on.

  • Lists get cited most on “best” questions. Prosperity Media logged 122,787 AI citations from 467 prompts about 12 brands it manages. Listicles and best-of roundups appeared in 90% of prompts, took 26.9% of all citations, and took 49% on “best” and “top” prompts.
  • Domain strength barely mattered. In the same study, 32% of citations went to domains under Domain Rating 40, and the rank correlation between Domain Rating and citations was 0.09.
  • Fresh, local pages win. Cited listicles had a median age of 97 days against 136 for the rest. 48.8% of listicle citations went to pages with 2026 in the title, and “Australia” was in the title of 55% of the most-cited listicles against 35% of the rest.
  • Each AI tool cites a different number of sites. Search Scope logged 765 AI answers with sources between 22 May and 10 September 2026. ChatGPT cited 3.4 websites per answer on average, Google AI Overviews 5.9 and Google AI Mode 6.3.

Sources: Prosperity Media, GEO citation analysis and Search Scope, AI SEO, both read on 21 October 2026. Each firm measured its own prompts and clients, so read the numbers as direction, not as a national average.

What an AI SEO agency should do for you

Strip away the labels and the work on these sites comes down to the same steps. An agency that cannot describe its work in these terms is selling ordinary SEO with a new name.

  • Measure first. Ask the questions your buyers ask in each AI tool, record who gets named and which sites get cited, and keep that as the baseline.
  • Let the AI crawlers in. Check robots.txt names each AI search bot (OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and others) so none is blocked by accident.
  • Make each page answer one question clearly. Short, direct answers near the top, plain headings, lists and tables that a tool can lift whole.
  • Keep your business facts the same everywhere. Name, address, services and prices should match on your site, your Google Business Profile and the directories AI tools read.
  • Earn mentions on sites AI tools already cite. Industry lists, local press and review sites, chosen from the citations the tracking found.
  • Report per tool, every month. One line per AI tool: named or not, cited or not, compared with the baseline.

How to choose an AI SEO agency in Australia: 7 steps

  1. Check yourself first. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the question your best customer would ask, and note who gets named. Or run our free AI visibility checker.
  2. Fix the basics if they are missing. If Google cannot find you, AI tools usually cannot either. A business with no rankings may need SEO services or a lighter small business SEO plan before any AI SEO.
  3. Match the firm to your size. Use the table above. A two-person clinic and a national retailer need different teams.
  4. Ask for a sample report. It should show named-or-not results per AI tool, with dates.
  5. Ask who does the work. The person on the sales call, or a team you have not met?
  6. Get the unit and the exit in writing. Hours, prompts or pages a month, the GST position and the notice period.
  7. Start small. An audit or a three-month trial tells you more than a 12-month contract.

Six warning signs in an AI SEO pitch

  • A guaranteed spot in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews. AI answers change from one run to the next, so nobody can promise one.
  • A secret “AI ranking factor”. Google’s own guide says there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and no special optimisations are needed.
  • An llms.txt file sold as the main fix. The same Google page says you do not need new machine-readable or AI text files to appear in these features. Some firms above add one as a low-cost extra, which is fine; it should not be the headline.
  • Reports that show only keyword rankings under an AI-themed cover page.
  • GEO, AEO and AI SEO billed as three separate services when the work is the same.
  • Case studies with no client name, no date and no way to check them.

What else ranks for “ai seo agency” in Australia, and how this list differs

“AI SEO agency” gets about 390 Google searches a month in Australia, and “AI search optimisation” another 110 (Google Ads data, pulled 21 October 2026). Google showed an AI Overview on both. These pages held the top of Google Australia for “ai seo agency” that day:

  • prosperitymedia.com.au: Generative AI SEO Services, GEO Agency Australia (a service page)
  • qoulomb.com: 10 Best AI SEO Agencies In Australia
  • aipivot.com.au: Traditional SEO Agency vs AI SEO Agency Australia
  • roi.com.au: Top 17 AI SEO AEO Agencies Australia
  • agencies.semrush.com: AI optimization agencies in New South Wales (a directory)
  • pitchblack.au: Why Pitch Black is Australia’s Leading AI SEO Agency?

Several of these lists are written by an agency about its own market. This one says how the firms were picked (from what the AI tools name), links every claim to the firm’s own page, prints the prices firms publish, and puts its author last.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which AI SEO agency is the best in Australia?
There is no single best one, and lists that crown their author deserve a second look. For large brands, StudioHawk, Prosperity Media, NP Digital Australia and Luminary run big teams. For engineering-heavy work, DEJAN and ClickedOn. For small businesses, WebGlobals, Click Click Media, Search Scope and BOHN Digital. Match the firm to your size and state, then ask each one for a sample monthly report before you sign.
What is the best AI SEO agency for a small business in Australia?
Look for a published starting price, month-to-month terms and a report you can read. On 21 October 2026, WebGlobals in Parramatta listed AI SEO from A$750 a month ex GST, Search Scope in Perth listed a A$1,500 audit, and Boltly in Melbourne listed SEO packages from A$500 a month with AI search included. BOHN Digital in Adelaide suits firms that also need a new site.
How much does AI SEO cost in Australia?
The firms that publish prices ranged from A$500 a month for SEO packages that include AI search (Boltly) to A$5,000 a month for an engineering-led retainer (DEJAN), on their own sites on 21 October 2026. One-off audits ran from A$1,500 (Search Scope) to A$5,000 (DEJAN). Most firms quote only after a call, and several prices exclude GST, so ask for the figure in writing with GST shown.
How much does SEO cost in Australia?
Boltly, a Melbourne agency, states on its site that Australian SEO generally runs from A$500 to A$5,000 a month, depending on competition, the state of the site and scope. AI SEO usually sits inside that budget or adds to it. Our SEO cost guide for Australia sets out sourced ranges for audits, local SEO and ongoing work.
What does an AI SEO agency do?
It gets your business named and cited when people ask AI tools for a recommendation. In practice that means testing the questions your buyers ask in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, making sure AI crawlers can read your site, rewriting pages so each answers a question plainly, keeping your business facts consistent across the web, earning mentions on sites AI tools cite, and reporting results per tool each month.
How does AI SEO work?
AI tools answer many questions by searching the web, reading a handful of pages and writing a summary that names some businesses and cites some sites. AI SEO makes your pages easy to find, read and quote in that process: crawlable pages, short direct answers, clear facts about who you are, and mentions on other trusted sites. Then it measures whether the AI tools name you, question by question.
What is AI SEO called now?
Several names describe the same work. Generative engine optimisation (GEO) aims at chat tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. Answer engine optimisation (AEO) aims at direct answers such as Google AI Overviews. LLM SEO, AI search optimisation and ChatGPT SEO are other labels. Most Australian agencies on this list sell all of them as one service.
Are AI SEO and GEO the same?
Mostly, yes. GEO is the name for optimising for generative AI tools, and AI SEO is the broader everyday term for the same job. Some agencies split them into separate service pages, but the deliverables are nearly identical. If a quote charges for GEO and AI SEO as two separate lines, ask what work appears in one and not the other.
What is the difference between AEO and GEO?
AEO, answer engine optimisation, shapes a page so Google can lift a direct answer from it into an AI Overview, a featured snippet or a voice answer. GEO, generative engine optimisation, aims at tools that write their own answers, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, and leans more on your reputation across other sites. The work overlaps heavily, so judge an agency on its work, not its acronym.
What is the difference between GEO and SEO?
SEO earns a ranked link on a Google results page. GEO earns a mention or citation inside an AI-written answer. GEO builds on SEO: Google says the usual SEO best practices still apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode. What GEO adds is testing in each AI tool, answer-first writing and more work on mentions of your business on other sites.
Is SEO dead now with AI?
No. AI tools still find most of what they cite by searching the web, so a site that Google cannot find or trust rarely appears in AI answers either. Google states there are no extra requirements to appear in its AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond sound SEO. What has changed is reporting: rankings alone no longer tell you whether buyers see your name.
Does GEO replace SEO?
No, it sits on top of it. Every firm on this list sells GEO next to, or inside, ordinary SEO, and several say plainly that the SEO foundations do most of the work. If your site does not rank for anything yet, start with SEO, or a small business SEO plan, and add AI search measurement once the basics are in place.
Can ChatGPT do SEO?
It can help with parts of it: drafting page outlines, suggesting questions to answer and checking your copy reads clearly. It cannot see your Google Search Console data, fix your site, or test how other AI tools describe you. Pasting AI-written pages onto a site without checking facts and adding your own experience rarely earns citations, because AI answers favour pages with specific, checkable detail.
How do I get my business to appear on ChatGPT?
Make sure ChatGPT's search crawler, OAI-SearchBot, can read your site. Write pages that answer the questions your buyers ask in the first few lines. Keep your name, address and services the same on your site, Google Business Profile and directories. Earn mentions on lists and sites that already appear in answers for your category. Then ask ChatGPT those questions each month and record whether you are named.
How do you optimise content for AI search engines?
Put a direct answer in the first two or three sentences under each heading. Use plain headings that match the question, short paragraphs, lists and tables. State facts precisely, with numbers, dates and sources. Add schema that matches what the page shows. Keep pages current: Prosperity Media's Australian study found cited listicles had a median age of 97 days against 136 for the rest.
How long does AI SEO take to show results?
Faster on-site fixes can show up within weeks; reputation work takes months. DEJAN states that structured data and content changes often show in AI citations within two to four weeks, and that off-site work compounds over three to six months. AI answers change between runs, so judge progress across a fixed set of questions over at least a quarter, not on one answer.
Which AI SEO agencies are in Sydney?
From this list: ClickedOn in North Sydney, Click Click Media in Norwest, WebGlobals in Parramatta, Prosperity Media in Surry Hills and StudioHawk in South Eveleigh. Luminary also has a Sydney office. They range from small-business plans with published prices to large teams for national brands, so start from the shortlist table and your budget.
Which AI SEO agencies are in Melbourne?
From this list: StudioHawk in Prahran, NP Digital Australia on Collins Street, Luminary on Little Collins Street and Prosperity Media in South Yarra. The short entries add Impressive Digital, Rankmax, Myoho Marketing, Boltly, Bring, Red Herring Digital and Intelligent Resourcing. Melbourne has the most AI SEO firms of any city we checked.
Are there AI SEO agencies in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide?
Yes. DEJAN is based in Brisbane and Luminary has a Brisbane office; Pivotal Agency is on the Gold Coast. Search Scope is in Victoria Park, Perth. BOHN Digital is in Adelaide. The work is mostly done remotely, so a firm in another state can serve you well, but a local firm may know your suburbs and competitors better.
How do I pick an AI SEO agency?
Check yourself first by asking ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your customers ask. Then compare two or three firms on four things: a sample report that shows named-or-not results per AI tool, who does the work, the unit you pay for (hours, prompts or pages), and the notice period. Start with an audit or a short trial rather than a long contract.
Is it worth hiring an AI SEO agency?
It is worth it when buyers in your category ask AI tools for recommendations and you are not named, and when you lack the time or skills to test and fix that yourself. It is not worth it if your site has basic problems, your business details are inconsistent, or you could not handle more enquiries. Fix those first; they cost less and help both Google and AI tools.
Can I do AI SEO myself?
Some of it, yes. Ask the AI tools your customers' questions and note who is named. Check robots.txt does not block AI crawlers. Rewrite your main service pages so each answers one question in the first lines. Fix your Google Business Profile and directory listings. An agency adds tracking at scale, technical fixes and outreach for mentions on other sites.
What are the best AI SEO tools for small businesses?
Start free: ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity your buyer questions and keep a dated record, and use Google Search Console. For tracking at scale, Luminary names Profound, Scrunch, AthenaHQ and Searchable as platforms it works with, and ClickedOn sells self-serve access to its own tracking platform from A$99 a month. Our free AI visibility checker gives a quick baseline.
Who is the best AI SEO expert in Australia?
Look for practitioners who publish their own data rather than general advice. Prosperity Media published an Australian study of 122,787 AI citations. Search Scope's founder Dorian Menard publishes per-engine citation counts. DEJAN publishes a named enterprise case study with tracked answers. ClickedOn publishes dated before-and-after AI answers for a client. Published, checkable data is a better signal than a title.
Where does ChatGPT get its information about businesses?
When ChatGPT searches the web, it reads pages its search crawler can reach and cites some of them. Search Scope's tracking found ChatGPT answers cited 3.4 websites on average, fewer than Google AI Overviews at 5.9. It also draws on what other sites say about you, which is why lists, reviews and directory listings matter. Keep your facts consistent wherever your business appears.
