Web design and SEO for Brisbane businesses
We build fast websites for Brisbane companies and get them found in Google. Senior engineers do the work, you own everything at the end, and we tell you which parts of a search plan pay back in weeks and which take quarters.
Most of our Brisbane work is for businesses with a real sales process behind the site: trades, professional services, clinics, manufacturers and B2B suppliers across the CBD, the inner north, and out through Ipswich, Logan and Moreton Bay. If your enquiries come from people searching rather than from a shopfront, this is the page for you.

Answer first
What a web design and SEO agency in Brisbane actually does
A web design and SEO agency in Brisbane builds you a site that loads quickly and explains what you sell, then gets that site found by people searching for it in this city. In practice that is three jobs done in order: fix the technical faults that stop Google reading the site, build pages that answer what Brisbane buyers type and connect them to a correct Google Business Profile, then earn mentions from real Queensland sites so Google treats you as a credible local option. FactoryJet does all three, and reports on enquiries rather than on rankings.
The order matters more than most agencies admit. Publishing content on a site Google struggles to crawl is money spent on pages nobody will be shown. Chasing links before the map listing is correct is effort spent on the slowest lever first. So we sequence the work by what pays back soonest, and we say out loud which parts take a couple of quarters rather than a couple of weeks.
What happens in the first ninety days
- A technical review of the site written in plain English, with each fault ranked by what it is costing you rather than by how hard it is to fix.
- Google Business Profile claimed, verified, categorised properly, and set to the parts of South East Queensland you genuinely cover.
- Business name, address and phone number made identical everywhere they appear, including the old directory listings you have forgotten about.
- Search Console and Analytics connected properly, so the reporting comes from your own data rather than a third-party estimate.
- A shortlist of Brisbane search terms scored on volume, commercial value, and how strong the sites already ranking actually are.
- The first service pages rebuilt around what Brisbane buyers type, not around your internal job titles.
The local market
What competing for search in Brisbane actually looks like
Queensland gained 19,244 businesses across 2025-26, part of a national count of 2,814,778 actively trading businesses at 30 June 2026.[1] That matters for a reason that is easy to miss: the same ABS release puts the national entry rate at 16.9% and the exit rate at 13.8%. Roughly one in six businesses around you is new, and roughly one in seven will be gone within the year.
For search, that churn cuts both ways. New competitors appear constantly, which is why a site left alone for three years slides. But it also means a good part of the page-one field in Brisbane is made up of businesses that have not been building authority for long. When we measured the Brisbane results in August 2026, the weakest business holding a first-page position for the main web design term had links from only 18 other websites. That is a genuinely reachable bar, and it is not true in Sydney or Perth, where the same measurement returned 101 and 92.
The other thing worth knowing is what Brisbane search results look like right now. Across the Australian terms we measured, AI Overviews, the summary Google sometimes places above the normal results, appeared on a small minority of web design and local SEO queries. On the equivalent American terms they appear on most. In plain terms: in Brisbane, ranking in the ordinary results still earns you the click. That is a real and temporary advantage.
What this changes about the work
Because the incumbents are beatable but not weak, the winning approach in Brisbane is not volume. Publishing forty thin suburb pages will not outrank a competitor with a decade of real links. What does work is a small number of genuinely strong pages, a technically clean site, and a local listing that is more complete and better maintained than anyone else in your category. That is a slower story to tell than a content package, and it is the one that holds up.
What we do
Two services, and they are better together than apart
A fast site nobody can find earns nothing. Ranking a site that does not convert earns nothing either. Most Brisbane businesses that come to us need some of both, and the sequence depends on which side is currently weaker. We work that out during the free review rather than selling you the package we would prefer to sell.
Web design in Brisbane
We design and build the site, write or rework the content with you, and launch it. A straightforward site of up to five pages goes live within seven days of an approved scope. Larger builds with bookings, customer logins or integrations into software you already run take longer, and we give you a date at scope rather than discovering it later.
A build that survives contact with a phone
Most Brisbane enquiries arrive on a phone, often on mobile data somewhere with poor reception. We build for that case first and let the desktop version follow. Google publishes the marks it uses to judge this: Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds, and Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1. Those are the numbers we build against, and we show you the measurement before and after rather than describing the site as fast.
Pages arranged the way buyers think
One page per service you actually want enquiries for, named the way customers say it rather than the way your industry says it. A tiler who sells bathroom waterproofing needs a page called bathroom waterproofing, not one called remedial membrane systems. This sounds obvious and it is the single most common thing we fix on Brisbane sites.
Content that answers before it sells
Each service page opens by answering the question that brought the reader there, then explains how the job works, what it costs you in time, what can go wrong, and what happens next. Selling comes after answering. Pages built this way also happen to be the ones that get quoted by AI assistants, because they contain actual answers rather than adjectives.
Contact that matches how people buy
A trade business needs a tappable phone number in the first screen and very little else. A professional services firm needs a short form and a clear sense of what happens after they send it. We match the contact method to the buying behaviour rather than putting the same eight-field form on every page and hoping.
Handover with nothing held back
You get the domain, the hosting, the site and admin access to every account involved, in your own name. If you leave, nothing breaks and nothing needs to be bought back. We have taken on enough rescue jobs from businesses who did not own their own domain to be firm about this.

SEO in Brisbane
Search work runs in the order below because that is the order that pays back fastest. Google itself says some changes take effect in a few hours while others take several months, and advises waiting a few weeks before judging whether a change helped. We plan against that reality rather than against a launch date.
Technical repair, done first
We crawl the site the way Google does and fix what stops it being read: pages blocked in robots.txt, leftover noindex tags from a staging site, content that only appears after JavaScript runs, broken internal links, and duplicate versions of the same page competing with each other. This is unglamorous and it is the work that makes everything after it worth doing.
Google Business Profile, properly set up
For most Brisbane businesses this is the highest-return hour of work available. Claim it, verify it, choose the most specific primary category rather than a broad one, set service areas to where you genuinely go, add real photographs of real jobs, and answer every review. Maps ranking leans heavily on how close the searcher is to you, so the listing does work the website cannot.
Consistent details across the web
Your business name, address and phone number need to be identical everywhere they appear, including listings you created years ago and forgot. Inconsistency here quietly holds back local ranking, and it is the kind of problem that never announces itself. We find the old listings and either correct them or get them removed.
Pages built for terms people actually search
We check demand against Google Ads volume before writing anything, because search console impressions can be inflated by rank-tracking software rather than by real people. If a term has no genuine volume in Australia, we say so and we do not build a page for it. That has already stopped us building several pages in this market that would have earned nothing.
Links earned, never bought
We earn mentions by making things worth mentioning: original local data, useful tools, genuine sponsorship and supplier relationships. We do not buy links, use private blog networks, or run automated outreach. Bought links are the fastest way to a manual penalty, and cleaning one up costs more than the links ever bought.
Reporting on enquiries, not rankings
Every month you get the search terms bringing people in, what they did once they arrived, and how many enquiries came from search. Rankings are included but they are the weakest number in the report. A first position on a term nobody searches is worth nothing, and we would rather show you the number that pays your wages.

Before you choose anyone
Six questions worth asking every agency, including us
These are the questions that separate agencies quickly. We have written down why each one matters so you can use them on us as well as on everyone else you speak to. If our answers do not satisfy you, that is useful information too.
Who is actually doing the work?
The most common disappointment in this industry is meeting a senior person and being handed to a junior one. Ask for the name of the person who will build the site, and whether they will be on your calls.
What happens if I leave?
You should keep the domain, the site, the content and admin access to everything. If any of those stay with the agency, you are renting your own business presence.
Can you show me a site you built that is still fast?
Anyone can show a screenshot from launch day. Ask them to run a live speed test on a site they built two years ago. The answer tells you whether they build for the long term or for the portfolio.
How did you decide these were the right search terms?
The answer should involve checking real search volume. If it involves a tool score alone, or a list of terms with no volume attached, the plan may be aimed at words nobody types.
What will you not do?
An agency that cannot name anything it refuses to do has not thought about it, or is willing to do things that will hurt you later. Buying links is the obvious one.
When will I know if this is working?
You want a specific leading indicator with a date attached, not a promise about positions. Impressions on commercial terms moving within a quarter is a reasonable thing to expect.
How we compare with a traditional Brisbane agency
The last two rows are the ones worth reading. Every comparison table on the internet has the author winning every line, which is why nobody believes them.
| Dimension | FactoryJet | Traditional agency |
|---|---|---|
| Who writes the code | Senior engineers, the same people you speak to. | Often a junior team or an offshore subcontractor you never meet. |
| Time to launch | Seven days from approved scope for a site of up to five pages. | Six to twelve weeks is common for a comparable brochure site. |
| Ownership | Domain, site, content and every account in your name from day one. | Frequently held by the agency, released on request or on exit. |
| Ongoing fee to stay online | None. Hosting and domain only, and you can take those elsewhere. | Often a monthly fee that keeps the site published. |
| Link building | Earned only. We will not buy links or use networks. | Varies. Paid placement is still widely sold in this market. |
| Where we are the wrong choice | Large brand and campaign work, television, print, or a full in-house marketing department. We do not do those and will say so. | A full-service agency genuinely is better if you need all of that under one roof. |
| Also the wrong choice if | You want someone in a Brisbane office you can visit weekly. We work remotely with Australian clients. | A local studio with a physical office wins on this one, plainly. |

Can’t find your answer?
Talk to the founderCost & scope
How much does it cost to design a website in Brisbane?
It depends on how many pages you need, whether the content already exists, and what the site has to connect to. A four page site for a trade business and a fifty page site with a booking system and a customer login are different pieces of work, and any figure quoted before someone has looked at yours is a guess. We review your current site, write a scope, and put a fixed price against it before you commit to anything.
How much does SEO cost in Brisbane?
SEO cost tracks the size of the problem, not the size of the city. A site with clean structure that needs content and local listings sorted is a smaller job than one where Google cannot crawl half the pages. We audit first and price the repair work as fixed milestones, then the ongoing content and link work separately, so you can see what you are paying for and stop either part.
Is it cheaper to build a website myself?
In cash, usually yes. In total cost, often no. A builder subscription is inexpensive, but the hours you spend on layout, copy and fixing the mobile view are hours not spent selling. The honest test is your hourly value. If a week of your time is worth more than the build, doing it yourself is the expensive option. If you are pre-revenue and time-rich, build it yourself and come back later.
Is there a monthly fee to have a website?
Yes, though it is usually small. You pay for the domain name each year and for hosting, either monthly or annually. If your site takes bookings or payments there is normally a platform or transaction fee on top. What you should not be paying is a monthly fee simply to keep pages online with an agency that holds the keys. You own our work outright.
How many pages should a good website have?
Enough to answer what buyers ask, and no more. Most Brisbane service businesses need a home page, one page per service they actually want enquiries for, an about page with real people on it, proof of past work, and a contact page. Adding pages nobody searches for does not help you rank. One strong page per service beats five thin ones on the same topic.
Websites
How long does it typically take to build a website?
A small business site is usually a few weeks from approved scope to launch. The build itself is rarely the slow part. Waiting on content, photography and sign-off is. If you have your copy, your logo and your images ready when we start, the timeline shortens considerably. We tell you at scope which items sit with you, because those are the ones that decide the date.
How do I increase my website speed?
Start by measuring rather than guessing. Google publishes the pass marks it uses: Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds, and Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1. Most slow Australian small business sites fail on one thing, which is oversized images loading before anything else. Compressing images, serving them in a modern format, and removing plugins you no longer use fixes the majority of cases.
Why do websites run slowly?
Usually because the page is asking the browser to download more than it needs. Common causes are photographs uploaded straight off a phone at full resolution, a page builder that ships code for features you are not using, a stack of tracking scripts, and hosting shared with too many other sites. Server distance matters less than people think for Australian traffic, but the other four are worth checking in that order.
How can I make my website mobile-friendly?
Test it on a real phone first, not just a resized browser window. The things that break most often are text too small to read without zooming, buttons too close together to tap accurately, forms that push the submit button off screen, and images that force sideways scrolling. Fix those four and you have solved most of it. Google indexes the mobile version of your site, so the mobile view is the real one.
What are common website mistakes?
The most expensive one is not saying what you do in the first screen. After that: no phone number where a phone buyer can see it, a contact form that asks for eight fields when three would do, stock photography that could belong to any business in Australia, service pages written in internal job titles rather than what customers type, and no proof that you have done the work before.
What is the 3 second rule in web design?
It is the idea that a visitor decides whether to stay within about three seconds of the page appearing. Treat it as a useful habit rather than a law, because the exact number varies by study. The practical version is simpler: in the first screen, a reader should be able to tell what you sell, whether you cover their area, and how to contact you. If they cannot, the design has failed regardless of how it looks.
What is the best website builder for small businesses in Australia?
There is no single best one, and anyone who names one without asking what you sell is guessing. If you need a simple brochure site and will maintain it yourself, a hosted builder is sensible. If you sell products, a dedicated commerce platform will serve you better. If you need custom logic, a booking system or an integration with software you already run, a builder will fight you and a built site will not.
SEO
How long does SEO take to show results in 2026?
Google itself says some changes might take effect in a few hours while others could take several months, and advises waiting a few weeks before judging whether a change helped. In practice, technical repairs and Google Business Profile corrections can move things within weeks. Ranking for competitive Brisbane terms against agencies that have been building links for a decade is a matter of quarters. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is selling something.
Does SEO work for small businesses?
It works well for small businesses with a clear service and a defined area, which describes most Brisbane trade and professional firms. Local search is the part where a small business can genuinely beat a larger competitor, because proximity and a well-kept Google Business Profile count for a lot. It works badly when the business is too broad to describe, or when nobody is actually searching for what is being sold.
How to tell if your SEO is working?
Look at enquiries first, then at the search terms bringing people in, then at rankings. Search Console shows which queries you appear for and how often people click. If impressions are rising on terms that describe what you sell, the work is landing even before positions move much. Rankings on their own are the weakest signal, because a first position on a term nobody searches is worth nothing.
Should I hire an SEO agency or do it myself?
Do the local basics yourself, because they are genuinely doable and nobody knows your business better. Claim and complete your Google Business Profile, get your name, address and phone number consistent everywhere, and ask happy customers for reviews. Hire out the parts that need tooling and time: technical audits, content at volume, and earning links from real Queensland sites. That split usually gets the best result for the money.
Is SEO still relevant in 2026?
Yes, and in Australia more so than in the United States right now. When we measured Australian search results in August 2026, AI Overviews appeared on only a small share of web design and local SEO queries, while they dominate the equivalent American ones. That means an organic position on an Australian local term still earns the click rather than losing it to a summary above the results.
Can I do local SEO myself?
Much of it, yes. The highest-value tasks need no technical skill: claim your Google Business Profile, choose the right primary category, set your service areas honestly, add real photographs, and answer reviews. Keep your business name, address and phone number identical across every directory you appear in. The parts that get harder are technical fixes and earning links, which is where outside help starts to pay for itself.
What is local SEO vs SEO?
Local SEO is about being found by people near you, and it is judged largely on your Google Business Profile, your proximity to the searcher, and consistent business details across the web. General SEO is about ranking web pages for a topic regardless of location. A Brisbane plumber needs local SEO first. A software company selling nationally needs the general kind. Most businesses need some of both.
Why is Google not crawling my website?
The usual causes, in the order worth checking: a robots.txt file blocking the pages, a noindex tag left over from a staging site, pages that only exist after a JavaScript load, no internal links pointing at the page, or a site so new that Google has not got to it yet. Search Console will tell you which one it is under the page indexing report, and that is the fastest place to look.
Google & local search
How can I get my business to show up on Google Maps?
Create a Google Business Profile, then verify it, which is the step most people stall on. Verification is usually by phone, email, video or postcard depending on your business type. Once verified, complete every field, pick the most specific primary category you can, and add real photographs. Maps ranking then depends heavily on proximity to the searcher, so a Brisbane CBD address and a Logan address will not rank identically for the same query.
Is a Google Business Profile free?
Yes, completely. Creating, verifying and managing a Google Business Profile costs nothing, and there is no monthly charge for keeping it. If someone contacts you claiming your listing will be suspended unless you pay, it is a scam, and those calls are common in Australia. You may choose to pay for Google Ads separately, but that is a different product and it does not affect your free listing.
Why is my business not showing up on Google?
Most often the profile is unverified, is a duplicate of an older listing, or has been suspended for a guideline breach such as a service-area business showing a home address. It can also be that you are checking from an address far from your business, since Maps results shift with the searcher location. Check the profile status first, then search for duplicates of your business name, then look at your categories.
Working with us
How to choose a web design agency?
Ask three questions. Who does the actual work, and are they the people in the meeting. What happens if you leave, and do you keep the site, the domain and the accounts. And can they show you a site they built that is still fast today, not just a screenshot from launch day. An agency that answers all three plainly is usually a safer choice than one with a nicer portfolio.
What do SEO services actually do?
Three things, and good agencies sequence them in this order. They repair the technical faults that stop Google reading and indexing your site. They build pages that answer what buyers actually type, and connect those to a correct Google Business Profile. Then they earn mentions and links from real sites so Google treats you as credible. Anything that skips straight to the third step without the first two is spending your money on the slowest lever.
